It’s fantastic to see the £1m project to replace extensive areas of old glazing and roofing on Excellence Building, in full swing. Whilst the Academy is a bit of a construction site, roofing works have progressed extremely well with 80% of the work now completed.
The new roofs are constructed to the highest and most modern building standards, meaning we can now see and experience a huge improvement to the comfort levels of those classrooms and areas they now cover, and we can look forward to achieving significant future energy costs savings. Significant classroom and general areas are now a much drier, warmer and brighter teaching and learning environment than before. The glazing work, where it has been completed, again shows a vast improvement to not only the look of the buildings, but also to the levels of comfort and security in and around the Academy.
The project is scheduled to be completed around the end of March 2017. When this particular project is finished, the Academy will not only look more aesthetically pleasing and be a more energy efficient building, but it will also provide a superbly improved teaching and learning environment. The Estates and Facilities Manager, Chris O’Hara, would like to take this opportunity to thank all Academy staff for their fantastic cooperation and teamwork so far. It really goes to show… We can do it!
