Ormiston NEW Academy are delighted to announce that they have been successful in becoming an SSE Wildcats Girls’ Football Centre – as one of the only schools in the country to be awarded this status.
The Football Association and SSE teamed up in 2017 and launched the new SSE Wildcats initiative, designed to inspire girls, aged 5-11, to be involved in football. SSE Wildcats Girls’ Football has been established in partnership with SSE, supporters of girls’ football participation and sponsor of SSE Women’s FA Cup, with support from UEFA, FIFA and The Youth Sport Trust.
This is an exciting opportunity for young girls in our local community, allowing them to take part in organised fun and engaging football sessions, exclusively for girls. The sessions will provide a safe environment where girls with no football experience can; have fun engaging with sport, develop fundamental skills, try a variety of sessions, learn new things and create foundations for a lifelong love of sport. Ormiston NEW Academy will join the 200 other SSE Wildcat Girls’ Football Centres already established across England to date and a further 800 centres that will be in place during 2018.
Ormiston NEW Academy SSE Wildcats Girls’ Football Centre will be launched during ‘Girls’ Football Week’ from Monday 23rd April 2018 to Friday 27th April 2018, with sessions and activities taking place across the week. The launch will also see guest sport coaches and sporting organisations visiting the academy in support of the academy’s new venture including West Bromwich Albion FC and Aston Villa FC.
