Uniform

Academy staff and students take pride in their uniform, and all students are expected to adhere to the Academy dress code, as set out below.

We have a young professional dress code, and have based the guidelines here on how a professional person would dress for work. We expect all students to present themselves smartly and take pride in how they look.

Students in the Academy sixth form are also expected to dress smartly.

Female student uniform – Years 7 to 11

  • Black jacket with integral academy badge on the breast pocket
  • Official Academy tie
  • Black, straight, knee-length skirt, or black trousers
  • Sleeved jumper with academy logo (cold weather)
  • White, school-type shirt, buttoned to the neck and to be worn tucked-into skirt or trousers
  • Plain black or white socks
  • Black, low-heeled shoes. No boots or boot-style shoes
  • Make-up: if worn, make-up should be subtle, discreet and appropriate
  • Jewellery: only one pair of discreet, plain sleepers or stud earrings in the ear lobe
  • Head scarves may be worn for religious reasons only, and should be plain black

Male student uniform – Year 7 to 11

  • Black jacket with integral academy badge on the breast pocket
  • Official Academy tie
  • Black trousers
  • Sleeved jumper with academy logo (cold weather)
  • White, school-type shirt, buttoned to the neck and to be worn tucked-into skirt or trousers
  • Plain black socks
  • Polished, plain black shoes, with no markings. No boots or boot-style shoes
  • Jewellery: for ear piercing, only one pair of discreet, plain sleepers or stud earrings

Male/female PE kit – Years 7 to 11

  • Reversible, long-sleeved sports shirt with logo
  • Micro-fibre PE shorts with logo
  • Sports polo shirt with logo
  • Sports socks with stripe
  • Tracksuit bottoms (optional extra which can be purchased from the supplier)
  • Trainers or boots (appropriate to sporting activity)

What is not acceptable for male/female students – Years 7 to 11

  • Trainers (unless for PE or sporting activity)
  • Bracelets/bangles (unless worn for religious reasons)
  • Rings
  • ‘Hoodies’
  • Denim (jeans/jackets)
  • Unnaturally coloured hair
  • Hairstyles should be appropriate and not contain exaggerated styles
  • Coloured nail varnish
  • Fashion accessories
  • Baseball caps
  • Tattoos
