With around two weeks in school before we break up for the Christmas holidays, I wanted to keep you up-to-date with developments in school, especially with the current national conversation going on with regard to Covid variants.
I meet with my Senior Leadership Team most mornings to discuss what we might have to do at NEWA to ensure that we keep your children as safe and healthy as possible. This will inevitably mean the cancellation of some school and community events. Unfortunately, our Year 11 Parents’ Evening on Thursday will be the first event to have to change.
This event includes face-to-face meetings across a year group and even with masks we don’t feel that proceeding is the responsible thing to do. This will now take place on 20th January 2022, when hopefully we’ll be in a position to have full face-to-face meetings. If not, there will be an alternative plan put into place. We will be posting out subject reports for all Year 11 students which will inform you of your son/daughter’s progress, and allow you to discuss this with them.
In the meantime, we are putting in place the DfE directive of asking our students wear face coverings in all communal areas and on all transport. Therefore, please ensure that your children come to school with appropriate face coverings.
We also require all students to continue with lateral flow testing at home at least twice weekly. If your child shows any symptoms or tests positive, please take them for a confirmatory PCR test and do not send them to school until a negative test result is confirmed. Please let us know throughout this process.
